Help Special Olympics Wisconsin celebrate its 30th anniversary by adopting one of the 2,000 athletes competing in Stevens Point for the 2009 State Summer Games.
Sponsors for the Adopt an Athlete Program will receive:
- Name included on our Web site (optional)
- Fan mail leading up to the Summer Games
- An adoption certificate by mail
- Name recognition June 4th at State Summer Games Opening Ceremonies
Here's how you can adopt an athlete:
- Visit participating Stevens Point area businesses and help them Adopt an Athlete by dropping extra change into the special canister
- Donate online using the information above

Here's how to raise $30 to Adopt an Athlete
Businesses
- Contact the Stevens Point Area Convention & Visitors Bureau to obtain a canister to display at your business. Call (715) 344-2556.
- Ask your employees to Adopt an Athlete or create a company-wide competition to chip in and support.
Schools
- Challenge classrooms to Adopt an Athlete by collecting change or getting your won classroom canister by calling (715) 344-2556.
- Encourage the PTO to get involved and have a canister available at school events.
- Consider having sports teams or student organizations chip in to Adopt an Athlete.
Organizations
- Invite a Special Olympics representative to talk about Adopt an Athlete at your meeting.

The past 30 years of Special Olympics Wisconsin Summer Games in Stevens Point has been made possible due to the hard work and dedication of the local businesses, organizations and volunteers. Your work has allowed Special Olympics to provide an environment for children and adults with cognitive disabilities with opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
