Meet Alex Guild, a Special Olympics Wisconsin (SOWI) athlete who takes his involvement with the organization to the next level!

Last year, Alex represented Team USA at the Special Olympics World Summer Games. At the World Summer Games, broke the American Record and took home a gold in the half marathon. He also received a gold medal in the 4×400 relay and a bronze medal in the 10,000m race. Running is Alex’s passion, so it is no surprise that one of his favorite SOWI fundraisers is Run with the Cops.

According to Alex, Run with the Cops is a special event because it directly involves law enforcement from throughout the community. He knows that the involvement of law enforcement is extremely important to SOWI. “I think they are a great ally and friend to Special Olympics Wisconsin,” Alex said. “Law enforcement represent safety and a great deal of public authority, respect, and they always bring an entourage to support our events in SOWI.”

Alex participated at the De Pere Run with the Cops and although the event is more focused on having fun and supporting Special Olympics Wisconsin athletes, he still had a friendly competition with some of the law enforcement. “Even though there was nothing competitive, the fun part is that now I know I can run faster than a lot of the police officers,” said Alex.
