Hello,
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, we would like to say thank you for your support of Special Olympics Wisconsin. Because of your efforts, nearly 10,000 athletes with cognitive disabilities in Wisconsin experience the joy, friendships and sense of accomplishment that come with participation in sports training and competition in our year-round events.

One athlete who has benefited from participating in Special Olympics is Tyler Derringer. Tyler has been diagnosed with Autism/Asperger Syndrome and mild Cerebral Palsy but he doesn’t let that stop him. He has participated in Special Olympics since 1993 and currently participates in volleyball, track and golf.
Training for Special Olympics benefits the athletes, both physically and mentally. Since participating in Special Olympics, Tyler has improved his running ability. His personality has also changed as he’s much more confident, and has a better perception about himself.
“It has given him courage to get up and do things, and to not look at himself as disabled. He’s gained independence; it’s a morale boost for him,” said his mother Claudia Derringer.
Please consider a donation to Special Olympics during this holiday season to help athletes with cognitive disabilities continue to reach for their dreams.
