Special Olympics Wisconsin has partnered with the University of Wisconsin – Madison’s Sports Recreation Department to form an Intramural Unified Flag Football League that was will be part of regular intramural programming. Special Olympics athletes will have the opportunity to play on the college campus with university students.
Dedicated to promoting social inclusion through shared sports training and competition experiences, Special Olympics Unified Sports joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. It is inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding.
What: 5 v 5 Intramural Unified Flag Football League, 2-4 teams
When: Sundays at 5:30 p.m. September 24 – October 29
Who: UW-Madison Students and Local SOWI Athletes
Where: University of Wisconsin-Madison’s brand new Near West Fields
Game Play: Adapted to follow SOWI rules & guidelines
Cost: Free. Uniforms shirts donated by SOWI
