Robert Pio Hajjar, a Special Olympics athlete and founder of non-profit organization Ideal Way, emceed the 2011 Leadership Conference in September. This year, he received the inaugural United Nations' World Down Syndrome Award in recognition of his outstanding achievements which have strengthened and enriched the lives of persons with Down syndrome.

Out of 192 countries represented in the United Nations, only five individuals from five countries received this award. The award ceremony will be in Cape Town, South Africa in August 2012.
