Texas Roadhouse Guardians of the Flame® FREE Lunch Fundraiser Raised Funds for Special Olympics Wisconsin

Who said there’s no such thing as a free lunch? That wasn’t true on April 22 when Texas Roadhouse locations across the state, including Kenosha, Racine, New Berlin, Waukesha, Eau Claire, La Crosse, and West Bend, took part in the Guardians of the Flame FREE lunch and raised more than $28,200 to benefit Special Olympics Wisconsin (SOWI). Texas Roadhouse in Appleton also raised approximately $6,000 for our athletes by donating 10% of sales April 22, 23 and 24.

Miracle on Canal Street is Potawatomi Bingo Casino’s signature community program that raises funds for 30 children’s charities. This year, the program raised a grand total of $981,273 for local charities! Special Olympics Wisconsin was a beneficiary, receiving $32,709!

Finish Line supports Special Olympics this Holiday Season

As part of Finish Line’s commitment to celebrating the everyday achievements of athletes everywhere, one of the leading athletic retailers has designated Special Olympics as one of the beneficiaries of the Finish Line Youth Foundation’s in-store and online holiday customer and employee donation campaign. The campaign is being held in Finish Line stores nationwide from November 2 – December 31, 2012.

Red Robin Tip-a-Cop

On Saturday, October 13, local law enforcement traded in their badges for aprons at Red Robin® restaurants in Wisconsin as part of the national Tip-A-Cop® event benefitting Special Olympics. Law enforcement in 39 states collected tips and served Red Robin restaurant guests throughout the day. All ten Wisconsin Red Robin locations were involved in the fundraiser and raised a grand total of $24,402.79 throughout the state, which is $10,360.33 more than last year and an incredible $18,151.93 more than 2010!

Trucking Industry and Law Enforcement Working Together for Special Olympics Wisconsin

The 8th annual World’s Largest Truck Convoy® presented by Quad/Graphics was held on Saturday, September 15th to raise money for the 10,000 athletes of Special Olympics Wisconsin (SOWI). Truck drivers, athletes, volunteers and law enforcement dedicated an early morning drive from Richfield to Oshkosh to help raise more than $84,000 for this Law Enforcement Torch Run® event. As the sun began to rise, drivers were greeted by athletes as they registered their trucks and enjoyed a free concert by country singer, Leland Martin, sponsored by JX Peterbilt.

Kwik Trip’s Partners with Special Olympics Wisconsin for the Annual Icon Sale

Kwik Trip’s annual icon sale for Special Olympics Wisconsin (SOWI) will take place from October 12-25, 2012 across Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Customers can purchase a paper icon for $1 each, sign their names and hang them in their local Kwik Trip store to show their support of Special Olympics Wisconsin athletes. In 2011, Kwik Trip raised $250,000 company-wide throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa, and SOWI received more than $145,000, an increase from $120,000 in 2010.

Featured Edger: Jon Koch

From skydiving to bungee jumping to swimming with sharks, Jon Koch has quite a history of thrill-seeking. On September 14, Koch will add rappelling from a building to that list by challenging himself to go Over the Edge of The City Center to raise money for Special Olympics Wisconsin.

Koch has been a longtime volunteer for SOWI and he is excited to get involved in other ways. At work, he encourages his Cardinal Stritch University co-workers to get involved in the greater community and he is inspired by his friends and family who work with Special Olympics Wisconsin athletes.

SUPPORTING SPECIAL OLYMPICS WISCONSIN HAS NEVER BEEN EASIER!

Most of us do not look forward to filing our state income taxes, but when you file in 2013 you can soften that experience by supporting one of your favorite organizations…Special Olympics Wisconsin! Last November, the Governor signed into law Wisconsin Act 76, which places Special Olympics Wisconsin on the Wisconsin State Income Tax Form under ‘Donations’.
