Special Olympics Softball is a "hit" with athletes of all ages. Players compete in slow pitch that involves two teams with up to 15 players per team. Athletes of lower ability can compete in Tee-ball. Special Olympics Wisconsin also offers the Unified Sports model that pairs athletes with and without cognitive disabilities onto one team. This allows family members to participate along side siblings or children with a cognitive disability. Athletes are grouped in competition divisions according to their ability level, age and gender.
