Over 800 Athletes Compete at Indoor Sports Tournament

Approximately 800 athletes traveled to Oshkosh April 4-6, 2008 to compete in the 2009 Indoor Sports Tournament. Athletes competed in team basketball, basketball skills and gymnastics.

Friday night kicked off with a DJ party, pizza, trivia prizes, ping pong and a showing of the movie The Ringer. Competition began early Saturday at the Kolf Sports Center and Albee Hall on the UW-Oshkosh campus. Athletes were also able to receive free health screenings from Healthy Athletes programs: Opening Eyes, Fun Fitness and Special Smiles. Over 200 athletes visited each of the three disciplines to get their eyes checked, test their strength and balance, and receive free prescription lenses or sunglasses.

After dinner on Saturday night, athletes gathered at the Kolf Sports Center for the 80's-themed Closing Ceremonies and dance. Following the torch lighting by Captain Randy Van Ness and athlete Keni Gillingham, everyone rocked out to Madonna, Def Leppard and other great 80's hits.

Sunday wrapped up with more team basketball competition. Congratulations to all the athletes who made it to state this year!
