Law Enforcement Torch Run Final Leg
Join hundreds of law enforcement officers on June 4-5, 2008 for the Final Leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) for Special Olympics Wisconsin. Whether it's running, walking, biking, horseback riding, rollerblading or driving a support vehicle, law enforcement personnel will carry the "Flame of Hope" from every corner of Wisconsin to the Special Olympics State Summer Games in Stevens Point.
Wisconsin's Torch Run left the 2007 international LETR conference with two major awards, including 5th place in the Highest Funds Raised per Capita and receiving the Diamond Level of Excellence for being one of eight programs to raise $1 million or more in the world!
The LETR is the largest grassroots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle in the world for Special Olympics. Law enforcement officers from the 50 United States, 10 Canadian provinces and territories and 35 countries carry the "Flame of Hope" in honor of Special Olympics athletes. Internationally, the LETR raised a record $30 million in 2007, a true testimonial to the dedication and spirit the law enforcement community has for Special Olympics. Dedicated LETR supporters in Wisconsin raised more than $1.3 million of this international total.
