Trucking for a Cause
The sixth annual World's Largest Truck Convoy® for Special Olympics Wisconsin presented by Quad/Graphics will pull out on Saturday, September 18th from the Pioneer Travel Plaza in Richfield. The Convoy will begin at 9:30 a.m. and travel north on Highway 41 to Oshkosh, where a celebration party will be held on the EAA grounds. Law enforcement officers will escort the trucks along the route.
Convoys will take place across the United States and Canada to celebrate the trucking industry and raise money for Special Olympics. In 2009, Wisconsin's Convoy was the top fundraising Convoy for Special Olympics for the second year in a row, raising $99,000 with 137 trucks participating. Since its inception in Wisconsin six years ago, a total of more than $367,000 has been raised, making Wisconsin's Convoy one of the top in the world!
All trucks participating in the event must be 10,000 lb. GVW or larger. Semi-truck, truck/trailer combination, fire truck, dump truck, flat bed, bus, large tow truck and large box truck are all acceptable. Pre-registration is recommended, however registrations will be accepted the day of the event. Registration is also available online at where participants can create their own webpage through Special Olympics to gain pledges and earn incentive prizes.
Special Olympics athletes who make a sign for the Convoy will receive a T-shirt or hat. Signs will be given to the truckers and law enforcement officers to thank them for their support. Some examples are: "We love truckers," "Truckers rule," Keep on truckin' for Special Olympics," and "We love law enforcement!" Lunch will be provided at EAA for Special Olympics athletes. Additional lunches may be purchased for $5. Contact your Regional Director of Development by September 3, 2010 if you plan on attending. Athletes are also encouraged to complete the Athlete Marshal Nomination form by August 20, 2010. Download the nomination form.
Thank you to this year's presenting partner, Quad/Graphics, and our founding partners, the Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association and the Waupun Truck-N-Show. This event would not be possible without the support of all our partners!
