Here's how to participate in the Final Leg

  1. Register online or fill out a paper registration form from the Special Olympics office nearest you.

  2. To participate in the Final Leg, raise a minimum of $25 in
    T-shirt sales or pledges. Here's how:

Torch Run Final Legs throughout Wisconsin

June 10-11, 2010: Activities in Stevens Point, WI

Thursday June 10

2:30 p.m.

LETR Parade through downtown Stevens Point. Meet at corner of Church Street and College Court (behind the US Post Office). The parade will run through downtown and end at the Ramada Stevens Point.

3 p.m.

Check-in begins at host hotel, Ramada Stevens Point. Call 800-998-2311 before May 17 for reservations and ask for the Special Olympics Torch Run block. Room rates are: $78 single/double/triple/quad; $78 pool; $113 hospitality; $153 one-room suite.

4:30 p.m.

Pizza and subs pool side (Pinery/Dome), Ramada Stevens Point. Raffle ticket sales begin.

6 p.m.

Torch Run participants head to Opening Ceremonies. Officers are welcome to bring patches, decals, etc. to give to athletes.

6:30 p.m.

Summer Games Opening Ceremonies.

8:30 p.m.
 

Torch Run Celebration: snacks, music and slide show of day's festivities. Raffle continues, winners drawn at 10:00 p.m. - Ramada Stevens Point.

Friday June 11

8:15 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Law Enforcement hosted softball throw - Corner of Maria Drive and Reserve St.
- Wisconsin law enforcement officers host the Softball Throw Special Olympics Competition

8:15 a.m. -
2 p.m.

Law Enforcement Static Display – Bring your department's squad or cycle for athletes to see. UW - Stevens Point, Partner's Park - Parking Lot Q.

Here is what is needed at Partner's Park:

  • Officers handing out miscellaneous law enforcement items (such as DARE items, cop cards, finger printing kits, etc.)
  • Squads and cycles for athlete viewing
  • Officers selling Law Enforcement Torch Run® t-shirts
  • Display unit with officers and athletes interacting

 

Times subject to change. Hotel rooms must be cancelled 24 hours in advance to incur no charges.

 

2010 Incentive Awards

  • $100 - Padfolio

  • $250 - Wireless weather station

  • $500 - Full zip micro fleece jacket

  • $1,000 Padfolio, wireless weather station and full zip micro fleece jacket

  • $2,500 GPS/Navigation system

  • $8,000 2010 Conference fee and hotel (based on double occupancy with another
    conference attendee) paid for at the International LETR conference in Long Beach, California October 19-23, 2010 (Airfare is the responsibility of attendee.)

  • $11,000 2010 Conference fee, airfare and hotel (based on double occupancy with another
    conference attendee) paid for at the International LETR conference in Long Beach, California October 19-23, 2010.

Runners needed for Opening Ceremony

Members of law enforcement who are actively involved with Special Olympics Wisconsin are encouraged to nominate or apply to be a Final Leg Runner at the Opening Ceremonies for the Special Olympics Wisconsin State Summer Games in Stevens Point on the evening of June 10, 2010. Application Form
