Volunteer Opportunities Are at All Levels of Special Olympics

Volunteers are required to be 12 years of age or older to participate in short-term volunteer positions, including day-of-event positions or office support. Volunteers must be 16 or older to participate in long-term volunteer positions, such as coach/chaperone, management team/committees, etc. Please select your area of interest:

Looking for a Short-Term Volunteer Position?
Day of Event Volunteer: Assist in various duties such as recording sports scores and times, officiating, selling souvenirs, handing out awards, escorting athletes, assisting with hospitality or fundraising, etc.
Office Support: Assist in typing, filing, copying, organizing materials or performing other office operations.
Looking for a Longer-Term Volunteer Position?
Coach: Work with your local athletes to prepare them for competition. Choose from 18 sports (sports listed below) to coach, which requires a commitment of at least one hour per week for a minimum of 8 weeks during the respective sports season.
Agency Manager: Agency Managers actually manage their local "team," or Agency, of athletes by monitoring finances for the team, taking care of local public relations in the community and providing transportation to local or statewide competitions. Agency Managers often find other volunteers to assist in the many facets of agency management.
Management Team/Games Committee: Serve on a committee or team that plans and assists in running competitions for local or state events.
Fund Raising: Serve on a local, Area or State committee to coordinate a fund-raising event or recruit sponsors to donate materials or provide in-kind services.
