A message of thanks

November 23, 2020

A Thanksgiving message from the President & CEO of Special Olympics Wisconsin:

This Thanksgiving, I want to thank you for being a part of the Special Olympics Wisconsin family.

This year has challenged us, there’s no question about it. These are tough times for us all.

And they are extra tough for Special Olympics athletes — who just want to see their teammates, play their sports and try to have some fun. But right now they can’t. Even the toughest athletes are facing anxiety, isolation and stress.

But to every athlete who has continued to demonstrate perseverance and exemplify strength, hopefulness and inclusion: Thank you for continuing to inspire us every day, even through the darkest of times.

To the parents who have engaged in at-home workouts and continue to be the biggest fans and supporters of our athletes: Thank you.

To the coaches and volunteers who continue to stand with us and find new and engaging ways to connect with our athletes when we can’t be together in person: Thank you.

To the many generous supporters who have stepped up to help us through these trying financial times, even through their own hardships: Thank you.

To everyone who fights discrimination against people with intellectual disabilities by standing up to bullying and fighting for inclusion: Thank you.

Together we’re changing the world. No matter what comes our way this next year, I know that we will get through it together and come back stronger than ever. I can’t wait to see what we accomplish together next.

Best wishes to you and your loved ones this Thanksgiving,
