During the months of March, April and May, our Young Athletes will be working on their fitness with Special Olympics International’s Fit 5 program. Developed in 2017 and used currently in at least 36 countries, this program educates and empowers athletes to live a healthy lifestyle by supporting them in three simple goals: 5 days of physical activity per week, 5 fruits and vegetables per day, and 5 bottles of water per day. A set of Fitness Cards and videos have been created to highlight endurance, strength and flexibility exercises that athletes can do at home or as part of practice.
When you register for YA Fit 5, your child(ren) will receive a YA Fit 5 kit which includes: water bottle, jump rope, fitness flash cards (levels 1 and 2) and a Fit 5 tote bag. This kit is FREE! Fit 5 practices will take place on Thursdays at 4pm in April and May.
