Location: St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy Price Davis Field in Delafield.
On Saturday, September 21, 2013, approximately 100 Special Olympics Wisconsin (SOWI) athletes and a dozen military cadets will participate in a unified flag football scrimmage at 12:30 p.m. at the St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy Price Davis Field in Delafield.
The event falls a week prior to the 4th annual EKS Day, a worldwide celebration in memory of Special Olympics Founder, Eunice Kennedy Shriver. EKS Day is a global call challenging everyone to “Play Unified to Live Unified” because Mrs. Shriver taught us that on the playing field, we forget about our differences and recognize our mutual humanity.
Military cadets and Special Olympics athletes will demonstrate Eunice Kennedy Shriver’s enduring vision when they come together to hold an inclusive flag football scrimmage between people with and without intellectual disabilities.
Special Olympics Wisconsin flag football competitions will take place from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Food and beverages will be available at the concession stand throughout the event. Free admission and free parking! All are invited! For more information, call SOWI Agency Manager, Rita Stelpflug at (414) 430-1028 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
