Special Olympics Partners with Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers for Unique Fan Experience

August 16, 2016

Cause-conscious thrill seekers will rappel Over the Edge of Lambeau Field on Saturday, August 27 and Miller Park on Saturday, September 3, to benefit more than 10,000 Special Olympics Wisconsin athletes.

Only 96 individuals will partake in the ultimate fan experience by rappelling more than 100 feet down the sides of these historic stadiums. Lambeau Field and Miller Park are the only NFL and MLB stadiums in the country that allow sports fans to descend its walls. Rappelling will take place from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on the respective event days.

Participants only need to fundraise $750 to experience this thrilling event. Packages include “Toss Your Boss” and “Cast Your Coach”, where companies, students, etc. can collect donations to send leaders over the edge and the ever-popular “Buddy Rappel” for the ultimate experience with a friend or family member for $1,000 total! To have the opportunity to go Over the Edge at Lambeau Field and Miller Park, participants must raise a total of $1,000 for a solo rappel or a total of $1,500 for a buddy rappel.

Funds raised provide year-round programming in sports, health and education to more than 10,000 individuals with intellectual disabilities across the state. By going Over the Edge, supporters can go beyond their limits – just as Special Olympics athletes do every day – while benefiting a great cause.

“As a member of the Board of Directors for Special Olympics Wisconsin, I am thrilled Lambeau Field is host to Over the Edge – an important fundraiser for the organization. As a past Over the Edge participant, I am reminded just how brave the athletes are in their attempts, both on and off the field. From one sports organization to another, Special Olympics truly illustrates the passion of an athlete”, Paul Baniel, Vice President Finance & Administration, Green Bay Packers.

Notable “Edgers” for the Lambeau Field event will include:

  • Molly Crosby, wife of Packers kicker, Mason Crosby
  • Madison Henry, wife of Packers tight end, Mitchell Henry
  • Alyssa Janis, wife of Packers wide receiver, Jeff Janis
  • Mindy Bennett, wife of Packers Offensive Coordinator, Edgar Bennett
  • Remy Klamer, girlfriend of Packers wide receiver, Ty Montgomery
  • And, Vince Vitrano, TMJ4 reporter and anchor and Special Olympics Wisconsin Board member will rappel at Miller Park
