The Indoor Sports Tournament (State Basketball) took place on April 6 & 7 and what a weekend it was for our athletes! More than 500

Special Olympics Wisconsin athletes, 200 volunteers, 200 coaches and 15 Unified partners helped to make this event a success! Friends, family & fans watched from the stands to see athletes be brave in the attempt as they went for the gold!

This was the second year of the 3v3 Unified Basketball tournament. The tournament consisted of 9 teams from all around the state. It was truly a huge success and awesome to see these teams living and playing UNIFIED!

Healthy Athletes had a terrific turnout at the Indoor Sports Tournament. The Special Smiles (dental care) discipline completed 222 screenings, Healthy Hearing (audiological care) completed 149 screenings and Fun Fitness 106 screenings. Opening Eyes (eye care) performed 177 evaluations and gave out 118 prescription glasses and 90 prescription sports goggles. These programs improve each athlete’s health and fitness, leading to an enhanced sports experience and improved well-being.

Another highlight of the tournament was the Fan Zone! We had some great company stop by including the 2019 DIII National Champions UW-Oshkosh Men’s basketball team.  Additionally, at the Celebration Ceremony, UW-Oshkosh awarded the Sportsmanship award this year to team “The Platteville Shooter”–congratulations!
