High School Senior Builds Life-Long Friendships through Club Unify

October 30, 2014

Mount Horeb High School's Club Unify got off to a strong start this school year with students gathering after school to plan for the homecoming parade. We played get-to-know-you games for our new club members, shared snacks and brainstormed ideas about our part of the parade. Our big goal was to stand out to the community so together, we decided to tie-dye T-shirts and wear them in the parade. The week before homecoming, we held another meeting after school and had a tie-dye party. It was a blast!

Homecoming came quickly, and everyone was excited for the parade. Students that rode their bikes decorated them in Club Unify/Special Olympics signs and posters, and the walkers threw T-shirts and wristbands to the community. Club Unify definitely stood out in Mt. Horeb’s homecoming parade. Soon after the parade, we planned our annual trip to Sutter Ridge Farm where we went on a hay-ride, picked pumpkins and played with goats and kittens.

Club Unify began my freshman year; I am a senior now, and could not be more proud of how far we’ve come. The friendships I have made will last a lifetime. One of my favorite things about this club is that everybody is included and no one is left behind. That is what makes Club Unify so awesome. We work together to accomplish our goals and we have fun while we do it. Club Unify will forever hold a special place in my heart.
