National Guardian Life Insurance Company Becomes Unified Partner with Special Olympics Wisconsin

November 3, 2015

Special Olympics Wisconsin (SOWI) is pleased to announce that Madison-based National Guardian Life Insurance Company (NGL) will debut as the first-ever Unified Partner at the Unified Bowling Tournament in Madison on November 7, 2015. The partnership will see NGL sponsor the tournament and send four employees to bowl alongside Special Olympics athletes as Unified participants.

Unified Sports is an exciting new program within Special Olympics, which involves athletes with and without intellectual disabilities competing alongside one another. Special Olympics promotes respect and inclusion, and Unified Sports offers individuals with and without intellectual disabilities the chance to learn from one another and enjoy shared experiences.

NGL has supported SOWI for years, from corporate donations to matching gifts made by its employees in support of SOWI’s Polar Plunge. Ms. Elizabeth Barden, Corporate Giving Administrator for NGL, said:

“NGL is grateful for this opportunity to support the new Unified Sports initiative with Special Olympics Wisconsin. It is a privilege and honor to work alongside the athletes and I know the participating employees are very exited to be a part of this as well.”

SOWI will host various Unified competitions across the state this month, and plans to host more Unified competitions in the coming year. Contact Don Wigington, SOWI’s Director of Unified Sports, for more information on the event and Unified Sports, at (608) 828-2622.
