Nearly 2,000 athletes will compete in aquatics, athletics (track & field), soccer and powerlifting at the State Summer Games on Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7.

The event officially begins on Thursday, June 5 at 6:30 p.m. with the Parade of Athletes. Competitions will take place on Friday, June 6 from 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, June 7 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Several Team Wisconsin athletes who will compete in athletics, aquatics, and powerlifting at the Special Olympics USA Games in New Jersey the following week, June 14-21, will have one last chance to hone their skills before they compete at the national level!

"My coaches have been really helpful with everything they've done,” said USA Games powerlifter, Andy White.

More than 100 volunteer medical professionals will be on-campus to give free dental, vision, fitness, and hearing screenings to SOWI athletes with a medical on file as part of Special Olympics Healthy Athletes®. Athletes will receive giveaways including mouth guards, sports goggles, prescription glasses and more! Delta Dental of Wisconsin will present SOWI with a $25,000 check to continue to provide free oral health screenings, fluoride varnish and education to athletes as part of the Special Olympics Special Smiles program on Friday, June 6 at 10:00 a.m. in the Health Enhancement Center outside of Room 119.
